Entry Requirements
  • This qualification is designed to be open and accessible, welcoming motivated learners without unnecessary barriers. 
  • Applicants should be 18 or over. For entry to the Level 5 Diploma, you would normally hold a Level 4 Diploma (or equivalent). International qualifications are welcome and will be reviewed to ensure they meet UK higher education requirements. 
  • A good standard of English is required to support your studies. If you’re unsure whether you meet this level, our team can assess and guide you, and advise on the support available to help you achieve it. 
  • Two references are usually required, ideally including one academic reference, but if you’re unsure about any of the criteria, please don’t let that stop you.

Average Completion Timeframe The Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, requires up to 1100 GLH. Most learners finish within several months, but if you have more time to study or relevant experience, you may complete it sooner. Method of Assessment Assessment Method

  • There are no examinations in this course. The Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care is assessed using a Pass/Fail system, with all unit grades recorded on the qualification transcript (Fail: 0–39%, Pass: 40–59%, Merit: 60–69%, Distinction: 70%+).
  • All units are internally assessed through written assignments marked by South London College and subject to external quality assurance by Qualifi.
  • Assessment tasks are designed to cover all Learning Outcomes and related Assessment Criteria, all of which must be successfully met to achieve the qualification. Learners are encouraged to use real work-related examples or case studies where possible, and some tasks may include practical assignments requiring observation by an assessor.
  • Learners use a Candidate Workbook for each unit to record answers and cross-reference practical evidence.
  • All learner submissions are internally marked and externally moderated by Qualifi prior to certification to ensure consistency and quality.

Formative Assessment (“Practice & Feedback”)

  • Takes place during the course before final graded tasks.
  • Provides constructive feedback.
  • Helps learners understand strengths and areas for improvement.

Summative Assessment (“Final Evaluation”)

  • Takes place when the assessor determines the learner is ready.
  • Results may initially be provisional.
  • Results are confirmed by an Internal Verifier and an External Quality Assurer.
