FAQ's

This Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management is an Ofqual-regulated Level 5 qualification awarded by Qualifi, designed for educators, trainers, and teaching professionals who want to advance their skills and move into education and training leadership or management roles.
From the start, our learner support team will guide you through your studies, providing feedback, answering questions, and helping you stay on track. You’ll receive personalised guidance to build confidence and ensure you succeed.
Assessment is through written assignments, portfolio work, and practical teaching evidence rather than formal exams. Tasks are designed to reflect real-world education and training scenarios, showing your ability to lead, plan, deliver, and evaluate learning effectively. All work must meet the assessment criteria and demonstrate professional application, originality, and understanding.
On completion, you’ll gain a recognised Level 5 qualification that can help you progress into roles such as Learning and Development Manager, Workplace or Vocational Trainer, Training Coordinator, Further Education Lecturer, or Teaching and Training Support Officer. It also provides a solid foundation for further study in education, training, or leadership within learning environments.
Yes. The qualification is awarded by Qualifi and regulated by Ofqual in England, making it recognised by employers and education providers across the UK.
All you need is a laptop or computer and reliable internet access. No specialist equipment is required, so you can study comfortably from home whenever it suits you.
You must be 18 years old or older to join. Before starting this Level 5 program, you should already hold a Level 4 qualification. Proof of a minimum IELTS score of 6 will be required if English is not your first language. You will probably also be asked to supply two references, at least one of which should be academic. Your application will be assessed by South London College to ensure that you have what it takes to succeed in the programme.
There are 12 units required for the Level 5 Extended Diploma. Level 4 has 6 units and Level 5 has 6 units. At level 4, units include Fundamentals of Education and Training, Design of Education and Training Resources, Engaging Learners, Developing a Work Plan, Programme Evaluation in Education and Training, and Professional Development and Reflective Practice. Level 5 Units: Applied Theories and Principles of Education and Training, Lifelong Learning, Resource Management in Education, Developing and Evaluating Operational Work Plans, Principles of Educational Leadership and Management, and Reflective Practice and Professional Development. You must take all 12 units, and you cannot skip or switch any of them.
The Level 5 Extended Diploma has a total of 240 credits. You add up to 2,400 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) to get 1,200 hours of Guided Learning Hours (GLH), which is time when a tutor helps you directly.
Many diverse educational and training subjects will provide you with knowledge of both theory and practical skills. These include learning theories and assessment methods, strategies for managing behaviour, designing curriculum and resources, ideas for lifelong learning, managing human resources and money in schools, educational leadership and management, and self-reflective professional development. By the end of this course, you will be able to work confidently as a teacher, trainer, or educational manager in further education and training contexts.
Not all the time. This course is aimed at people who work or want to work as teachers or trainers in the further education and skills sector. It’s also great for people new to teaching or training, pre-service and in-service learners who want a qualification for their job, industry trainers and assessors who want a teaching qualification and people who want to move up in their education career.
The Level 4 Diploma in Education and Training is designed to develop your teaching skills in the real world. Topics include lesson planning, motivating students, and reflecting on your own practice. Also, the Level 5 Extended Diploma includes six units that cover more advanced topics such as leadership and management, lifelong learning, resource management, and the application of educational theories in real life. The overall value of the Level 5 qualification is 240 credits. A Level 4 qualification is only 120 credits. You can still achieve the Level 4 Diploma if you do not complete the full 12 units, but you do complete all six Level 4 units.
Each unit is graded separately on a four-point scale. A fail is a score of between 0 and 39%, a pass is a score of between 40 and 59%, a merit is a score of between 60 and 69%, and a distinction is a score of 70% or more. All your units’ grades will be listed on your qualification transcript. To pass each unit, you must demonstrate that you have met all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for that unit.
You will receive formative assessments during the course to help you improve. It doesn’t count towards your final grade, but it does help you and your tutor to work out what you need to work on before you hand in your final paper. Summative assessment tasks are pieces of graded work that you submit at the end of each unit. This work is then compared to the assessment criteria to determine whether you passed, deserved, or distinguished.
Yes. All work submitted by students is graded by tutors at South London College. However, before you receive your final certificate Qualifi will also carry out an external review and moderation of your work.
The leadership units consider what good leadership in education is and the impact of various management styles on the environments where people teach and learn. You will see how laws, government regulations, and the values of an organization affect the way leaders do their jobs. You will also learn how to lead innovation, build and manage teams, assess leadership skills, and make leadership plans that will help the organization achieve its goals. The resource management unit is responsible for planning human resources, budgeting, and monitoring costs for educational organisations.
Reflective practice is a theme throughout the whole qualification. In Level 5, the unit Reflective Practice and Professional Development requires you to critically reflect on well-known models of reflection, such as those developed by Schön, Gibbs, Brookfield, Johns, Atkins, and Murphy. You will review your teaching, identify areas for development, and create a personal development plan with measurable outcomes to support this development. As part of this unit, you will also be required to keep up with changes in education policies, new technologies, and new ways of teaching and share your own improvements with your colleagues.
Qualifi supports Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This means you can use knowledge, skills, or experience you have gained at work, in life, or through previous study to demonstrate that you already meet some of the unit requirements. RPL could help you.
