Yes, Qualifi has a policy called “Recognition of Prior Learning” (RPL) which enables students to demonstrate their existing knowledge, understanding, or skills against the requirements of specific units without having to repeat the study of that material.

On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress to becoming a Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS). Many colleges and other places providing further education accept QTLS. This is the level of qualification that many employers in the FE sector want teachers to have, or at least say they will work towards once they are at work. The Diploma also demonstrates that the holder is qualified to work as a teacher, trainer, or tutor in FE colleges, Adult and Community Learning Centres and training providers.

The Total Qualification Time (TQT) is an estimate of the total time a learner will take to complete the qualification and to demonstrate that they have done so. It has Guided Learning, Directed Learning, and Supervised Assessment. The TQT for each required unit is 150 or 200 hours. TQT can be delivered through guided learning, independent/unsupervised research, unsupervised coursework and portfolio building, e-learning, e-assessment, pre-recorded webinars and work-based learning. Guided Learning Hours (GLH) are those sessions where a tutor is present, for example lectures, tutorials, supervised study, observed tests and exams that are marked by someone else.
The course has many different theories and models to help teachers and students learn and teach well. You will study learning theories such as cognitive, humanistic, andragogical, and socially situated learning. You will also learn about learning domains and Bloom’s Taxonomy and motivation theories, such as Maslow, Herzberg, and McGregor. You will also examine models of learning preferences such as Kolb, Honey and Mumford, and VAK (Visual, Auditory, Reading and Kinaesthetic). You will be thinking critically about how these can be used and what problems they may have. The programme also involves reflective practice models such as Gibbs,Schön, Rolfe and Brookfield. They will help you to continue improving your teaching during and after the course.
Inclusive teaching is designing and delivering lessons that are suitable for the needs of all of your students. You will learn how to use initial and diagnostic assessments to find out what each student needs to learn, set SMART goals, and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). You will also learn how to adapt resources and teaching methods to meet the needs of students with disabilities or learning difficulties and students with different learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds. This means employing strategies for differentiation, using inclusive language, managing your classroom well, and embedding equality and diversity into your everyday practice. The aim is to make sure that all students have an equal chance to succeed no matter where they are starting from.
A big part of the course is to make you better at being a teacher in real life. You will learn how to structure lessons to have clear learning goals, appropriate activities for teaching and learning, and opportunities to be tested. You will learn about various teaching methods, such as one-to-one, paired, small group, and whole group, and when and how to use each one effectively. You will also learn about making and using teaching materials, including both stretch and challenge activities, dealing with group dynamics, and using feedback from assessments to change how you teach. Your classroom studies and your 100 hours of teaching practice will help you to further develop your skills in lesson planning and delivery. Observations in your practice will generate structured feedback for you.
