FAQ's

Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification that helps learners develop practical skills in lesson planning, training delivery, learner assessment, and reflective teaching practice.
This qualification is ideal for individuals who want to strengthen their teaching or training practice. You may already be delivering training, supporting learners in further education, or planning to move into a teaching role in adult education, vocational training, or workplace learning. It’s also suitable for learners across the UK who want to develop their professional knowledge before progressing to higher-level qualifications in education, training, or learning and development.
The Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Education and Training offers a structured and in-depth introduction to the principles and practice of effective teaching. It helps you develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to plan engaging lessons, support different types of learners, and assess learning in meaningful ways. Throughout the course, you’ll explore important areas such as lesson planning, learner engagement, inclusive teaching approaches, assessment methods, and reflective teaching practice. The programme combines academic understanding with practical application, helping you apply what you learn directly to real teaching and training environments.
Our learner support team will be available throughout your studies to provide guidance, answer questions, and offer feedback. You’ll receive ongoing support to help you stay on track and make the most of your learning experience.
Assessment is carried out through written assignments and portfolio-based evidence, rather than formal exams. These tasks are designed to reflect real teaching and training situations, allowing you to demonstrate your ability to plan learning, deliver engaging sessions, and assess learner progress. All work must meet the required assessment criteria and show a clear understanding, originality, and practical application of teaching principles.
On completion, you’ll gain a recognised Level 4 qualification that can support progression into roles such as further education teacher, workplace trainer, vocational trainer, learning and development specialist, or training coordinator. It also provides a strong foundation for further study in education, training, or leadership roles within learning environments.
Yes. This qualification is awarded by Qualifi and regulated by Ofqual in England, meaning it is recognised by employers and education providers across the UK.
All you need is a laptop or computer and reliable internet access. No specialist equipment is required, so you can study comfortably from home whenever it suits you.

The qualification is worth 120 credits. This is equal to 1,200 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT). Of these 600 hours are Guided Learning Hours (GLH) hours spent with a tutor in classes, workshops, webinars or supervised activities.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply. Learners are expected to be qualified to Level 3 on entry. You need an IELTS score of 6 or above if English is not your first language when you apply. Most applicants must also provide names of two referees, one of whom should be academic.
Yes. You might be able to demonstrate that you already have some of the knowledge, skills, or understanding required for the test through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

All units are graded as follows:

Fail: 0-39% C

Pass 40% – 59%

Merit 60% – 69%

Formative assessment is done as you are learning and is designed to give you feedback on how to improve your work. It will not impact your final grade. At the end of a unit you will have a summative assessment which compares your knowledge to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria. This will be your assessment on which you will be graded.
Your work is assessed by the South London College assessors.

You need to take all six units:

Fundamentals of Education and Training

Design of Education and Training Resources

Engaging Learners

Developing a Work Plan

Programme Evaluation in Education and Training

Professional Development and Reflective Practice

Yeah. When you have completed this qualification, you can go on to a Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management or a different Qualifi Level 5 Diploma in a related subject. You can also transfer into year 2 of a Bachelor’s degree or obtain employment in a related field.

If you complete all six Level 4 units but do not go on to complete the additional Level 5 units you will still be able to gain the Level 4 Diploma in Education and Training. This is provided that all the Level 4 assessment requirements have been met.

You will not be a Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) with a Level 4 Diploma. But it gives you the basic skills and knowledge you need to teach in a range of schools and training settings, and it helps you move on to higher qualifications.
The Level 4 units cover a range of topics, including pedagogy and learning styles, differentiated instruction, strategies for engaging learners, program design, and the education and training cycle. You will also learn how to plan and monitor your own work, assess the quality of training, and use models of reflective practice such as those developed by Gibbs, Schön, and Kolb.
Not all the time. The qualification is for those already working as teachers or trainers in the further education and skills sector. It is also open to those who want to be teachers or trainers. It also caters for industry professionals who are teaching at work, current assessors who want to gain a teaching qualification and students who have already completed Learning and Development units that may count towards the qualification.
