Entry Requirements
  • Learners should be 16 years of age. 
  • A minimum Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.  
  • You should be volunteering, working, or on practical placement in a suitable care setting.   
  • You need to undertake a work placement based in the UK for 50 hours.  
  • Participate in workplace observations.

Average Completion Timeframe
  • This course can be completed through two flexible study options to suit your lifestyle:
    • Standard Course Plan (9-12 months) – ideal for learners balancing other commitments.
    • Fast Track Option (6 months) – perfect for those who can dedicate intensive study time.
  • Most learners complete within their chosen timeframe, though some may finish earlier depending on personal circumstances and available study time. We accommodate your pace with unlimited support for 12 months. This Level 3 Diploma requires approximately 315 guided learning hours.

Method of Assessment To earn the Level 3 Diploma, you must submit written assignments and undergo direct observation. Importantly, this course does not have an exam. This is how you will be assessed for the duration of the course. 

  • Written Assignments: The assignments will be marked internally by an assessor. Your personal tutor will provide you with constructive feedback to improve in your future assessment. You will be guided during your time at South London College.
  • Direct Observation: You will undergo direct observation in a suitable care environment.  This is to assess your practical performance. A qualified individual within the workplace can provide a witness statement. 
  • Witness Testimony: You should produce a witness testimony to confirm your readiness for a senior care role. 
  • Grading: This qualification is awarded on a pass/fail basis and does not include any grading system.
