Method of Assessment Assessment Overview

  • There are no formal exams.
  • You are assessed through a portfolio of evidence. Assessments are designed to show that you’ve met the required knowledge and practical skills. Evidence comes from a mix of methods, and you need to use at least three different assessment approaches. These include:
    • Observation of your performance in real or simulated assessment situations
    • Examining products of work related to assessment tasks
    • Questioning learners to check understanding
    • Discussions with learners and written/oral responses
    • Witness testimonies or learner statements
    • Recognition of prior learning where relevant
  • For competence in real settings, you must show that you can assess at least two different learners across both workplace and non‑work (training) environments.
  • All your evidence must be valid, authentic, and sufficient to meet the qualification’s assessment criteria.
