Entry Requirements
  • Learners should be 16 years of age.  
  • 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or Grade 4 and above. 
  • Other related Level 2 subjects. 
  • Equivalent international qualifications. 
  • For those whom English is not their first language, the following is recommended; 
    • IELTs 5.5
    • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2
    • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 162 or above
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic 42-49

Average Completion Timeframe The Level 3 Award in Introduction to Computer Programming requires 60 guided learning hours (GLH). With flexible study options, you can complete the course in just a few months or take up to 12 months, whichever suits your schedule. Most learners finish within 1-3 months and those with prior experience may progress even faster. You will receive full support throughout your learning journey for up to a year.  
Method of Assessment To earn the Level 3 Award, you must submit a portfolio of evidence. Importantly, this course does not have an exam. This is how you will be evaluated throughout your course. 

Portfolio of Evidence: To successfully complete this award, you will compile a portfolio of your work showcasing all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria from the mandatory units that have been covered. This portfolio may include written assignments and worksheets, all designed to demonstrate your acquired skills and knowledge.  

Internal Marking and Feedback: All completed assignments are marked internally within South London College. You will receive constructive feedback and guidance from your personal tutor, which will support your learning and improvement. You can achieve a Pass, Merit, or Distinction for each unit based on the quality of the work submitted;
