Entry Requirements
  • Learners should be 18 years of age and above. 
  • GCE Advanced level profile with achievement in 2 or more subjects supported by 5 or more GCSEs at grades 4/C and above. 
  • Other related Level 3 subjects such as ATHE Level 3 Diplomas. 
  • Access to Higher Education Certificate delivered by an approved further education institute and validated by an Access Validating Agency. 
  • Equivalent international qualifications. 
  • Mature learners may present a varied profile and include relevant work experience. 
  • For those whom English is not their first language, the following is recommended; 
    • IELTs 5.5
    • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2
    • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 162 or above

Average Completion Timeframe The Level 4 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adult Care) requires 480 guided learning hours (GLH). With flexible study options, you can complete the course in just a few months or take up to 12 months, whichever suits your schedule. Most learners finish within 9 months and those with prior experience may progress even faster. You will receive full support throughout your learning journey for up to a year.  
Method of Assessment To earn the Level 4 Extended Diploma, you must submit a portfolio of evidence. Importantly, this course does not have an exam. This is how you will be evaluated throughout your course. 

Portfolio of Evidence: To successfully complete this course, you will compile a portfolio of your work showcasing all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria from the units that have been covered. This portfolio may include written assignments, worksheets, and case studies, all designed to demonstrate your acquired skills and knowledge.  

Internal Marking and Feedback: All completed assignments are marked internally within South London College. You will receive constructive feedback and guidance from your personal tutor, which will support your learning and improvement. You can achieve a Pass, Merit, or Distinction for each unit based on the quality of the work submitted;
