Entry Requirements
  • Learners should be 16 years of age. 
  • A minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.  
  • It is required that you complete a practical placement of a minimum of 50 hours. This is 16 hours weekly. It can be voluntary or unpaid work.

Average Completion Timeframe The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools requires 185 GLH. You can complete this course in just a few months or take up to a year; it’s flexible to suit your schedule. Most learners finish within 6 months, but if you have more time to study or relevant experience, you may complete it sooner. We offer full support for up to 12 months, so you can work at a pace that’s right for you. 
Method of Assessment To earn the Level 3 teaching assistant certificate, you must submit written assignments and undergo direct observation. Importantly, this course does not have an exam. Here’s a breakdown of how you will be assessed. 

  • Written Assignments: The written assignments will be marked internally by an assessor. Your personal tutor will provide you with constructive feedback and guide you to help you improve and succeed.  
  • Direct Observation: You need to undergo direct observation in a suitable environment.  This workplace should be a school setting. The school setting must be Key Stage One or higher, no School Nursery or Reception.
