Start Your Journey as a Certified Teacher with Level 5 DET
If you wish to become a teacher or educator, this Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) will cement your teaching status. This course is regulated by Ofqual and offers you the opportunity to become a teacher without attending university. The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training gives you an understanding of various topics covered in the course. This includes pedagogical principles and innovative and inclusive teaching tools and practices. With this training, you will learn to create diverse educational environments. You will be able to carry out assessments of your students and manage various classroom settings, utilising effective strategies.
This course meets the criteria to gain QTLS status (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills). Once you complete this training, you can apply for QTLS status. Since 2012, teaching and training professionals in the UK who are members of the Society for Education and Training (SET) and hold Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status are considered equal to teachers with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in schools. To get QTLS status, you need a Level 5 Initial Teacher Training (ITE) qualification. This is what the Level 5 education and training course offers you. You will become qualified to teach students aged 14 and above. These learners could be in college, the uniformed services, in a community organisation, or in the workplace. This Level 5 teaching qualification replaces the previous Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET). You can complete this diploma within one year. You will be assessed on your practical placement, written assignments, and portfolio of evidence to evaluate your readiness to take on a full-time teaching role.
